| Main Page » Programme of the 3rd World Gdańsk Reunion |
The programme of the Gdańsk Reunion includes many cultural events, usually open to the public, which will take place both in the city streets and in the interiors of its historical buildings. We will hold: exhibitions, previews, theatre and multimedia spectacles, conferences, competitions dedicated to Gdańsk, concerts, theatre productions and literary meetings.
Come and see the many faces of Gdańsk!
Historical Gdańsk
The Gdańsk History Museum will organise a series of events showcasing the traditions, history and customs of the Gdańsk of old and the present day. In 2010, we will have such events as:
- an exhibition: Gdańsk through an Amber Lens
- a preview of an exhibition of historical silverware from the collection of Jurgen Gromek
Musical Gdańsk
The Polish Baltic Philharmonic and the State Baltic Opera have also prepared special musical events for the Reunion. We will be able to see Mozart’s Marriage of Figaro and listen to piano and symphony concerts. To find out more about the concert schedule and how to book tickets, visit the web-sites of the Philharmonic: www.filharmonia.gda.pl and the Opera: www.operabaltycka.pl
Gdańsk Feasts
Throughout the Reunion, Gdańskers can meet at the Gdańsk Inn in the Coal Market (Targ Węglowy). Feasting together well into the small hours has already become a tradition of the Reunion.
Walks around Gdańsk
For those of you who want to get to know Gdańsk better, we will organise walks around the city with a professional tour guide. Those of you who are interested in certain special aspects of the city’s history can go on theme tours, such as tours following the tracks of Johann Hevelius, Daniel Chodowiecki, Gunter Grass, Lech Wałęsa, Gdańsk Gothic and many, many more.
Back to Our Roots
If you are looking for your ancestors, want to learn your family’s history or trace your family tree, the National Archive in Gdańsk will be open for you. Three times during the Reunion you will have the opportunity to take part in a presentation of the possibilities the Archive offers to those who want to look into the attics of history and the complicated stories of the lives of Gdańsk families. For detailed information, visit the Archive’s web-site at www.gdansk.ap.gov.pl
Sporting Gdańsk
Gdańsk sports lovers will have an opportunity to test their physical fitness by competing in the 5th Gdańsk Family Run on Sunday, May 22, 2010. Starting time at 10:00 in the morning in the Coal Market (Targ Węglowy).
Gdańsk for Kids
The Organisers of the Reunion have also got something in store for the youngest Gdańskers: a bundle of attractions by the Miniatura City Theatre. For a detailed schedule of the planned productions and how to book tickets visit the Miniatura Theatre’s web-sit at www.teatrminiatura.pl (the web-site is available only in Polish!)
Young Gdańsk
On a visit to our city, young people can get to know the latest trends in music played by local bands who will play on several stages in various parts of the city. The festival is called Streetwaves and is scheduled for May 23, 2010.
Family Photo
Another Reunion tradition is the Family Photo of all the participants in the Gdańsk Reunion, to be taken in the Coal Market (Targ Węglowy), next to the Wybrzeże Theatre. On the next day the photograph will be published in our local daily.
